Mmmm... You're Tasty!

I was talking to some ward friends tonight and remembered another funny moment with my preschoolers which I thought was blog worthy.

On our playground we have a train in which the kids can pretend to go places in. Some of my preschoolers called me over to join them in getting on the train. We got on the train to go to Disneyland and then went to another part of the train to go to Provo. You have to remember that the train is preschool kid size, so me sitting on the train isn't really that natural. So, when we got on the train to go to Provo, I sat on a circular wooden table-like part of the train between the engine and the next car while the kids sat on the little side seats in the train car. As soon as I sat down, one of the girls said, "Miss Michelle, you can't sit there!!" Why? "Because that's where the food goes!" Oh! I'm so sorry. I then tried to comfortably sit on one of the sides and one of the girls saw that I didn't quite fit where I was sitting, so she got up and offered me her seat instead. Very cute. So, as I am sitting there, other kids begin bringing "food" to the table via pouring buckets of sand all over the table. Of course, the sand gets every where, including on me and in my apron where my phone is. Oh well. I proceeded to pretend to eat food: Mmmm... this pizza is so good! I don't know what gave me this idea, but at some point I turned to the little girl next to me, take her arm and pretend to take a bite out of her as I make an over-exaggerated sound of me biting something. It sounds funny, so if you could please make the sound on your own, that would save me the time of creating a sound-bite of it (excuse the pun). Anyway, after I pretended to bite her I said something like, "Mmmm... you taste like chocolate!" I repeated it several times with different kids and different things. And then they started doing it to me!!! One girl pretended to take a bite of me and then said, "Mmmm... you taste like lemon bars!" I don't even like lemon bars. Later a girl said I tasted like pie. I like that much better. They took turns making the biting noise and saying what each other tasted like for about 5 minutes or more, which is pretty incredible considering their usual attention span. Once one kid said something, other kids would copy them just because they couldn't think of anything else original. I was having a blast and laughing really hard seeing all the kids pretending to bite each other while making the biting noise. What have I taught these kids now? Hopefully not cannibalism.

As for General Conference, I am watching it on BYU TV at home with my roommates and it's great. This is the first conference in a while where I haven't gotten tickets to a session somehow, but I am totally okay with that. I already feel like I've learned so much! I particularly really appreciated Elder Uchkdorf's talk about slowing down the pace of life and Elder Scott's talk on faith and character. I am still digesting all that I can learn from those two talks alone. I am very excited to hear more from the living prophets tomorrow!
